Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare has announced that Mary Oyler is the March GVMH Staff Member of the Month. Mary has been an employee of Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) since May 2006 and currently works as the Infection Control Nurse in the Quality Management/Infection Control Department.
Coworkers nominated Mary and had the following to say about her:
“Mary displays a positive attitude at all times and always leads by example. She is very approachable, always practices the 10/5 rule, and gives her full attention to the people she interacts with and the situation at hand. Mary is always professional, both in her appearance and what she does on a daily basis. She understands the importance of being on time to meetings, making good use of everyone’s time, and keeping things confidential.
Mary is always eager to learn new things and keep up with the ever-changing world of healthcare. She has a wealth of information to share with her team members and always takes time to ensure the subject being discussed is understood. Mary is also open to hearing others’ opinions and gives positive feedback in order to provide the best solution possible.
Mary always has time for anyone and anything that interrupts her busy day. Mary’s workload consists of a lot of things that often go unrecognized. She may spend many hours on a project—most people are unaware the amount of time and energy that goes into it.
Whether interacting with patients, coworkers, physicians, or supervisors, Mary has excellent communication skills. She follows through on all of her projects and always responds to phone calls and emails in a timely fashion.”
In being named Staff Member of the Month, Mary was given a bouquet of flowers, a $100 gift certificate, and her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital. Mary is also one of 12 finalists for the 2016-2017 Staff Member of the Year award.
