GVMH Implements New Digital Medical Record

Clinton, MO – (Nov. 26, 2018) You are the focus at Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH). A new electronic medical record now makes your care safer, faster and more convenient.

“Think of it as ‘The Power of One’ – one patient, one record, one call,” said CEO Craig Thompson. “Anyone who visits us will have a single medical record with the most current medical information.”

Thompson said GVMH invested millions in the new technology. Staff has worked for several months to make the transition smooth and efficient. The “go live” date is Dec. 1.

The advantages of the new system – called Meditech Expanse – are many, but patient safety is at its heart, Thompson said.

“You won’t have to answer the same questions over and over because all our staff will have the same information,” he said. “That’s huge when it comes to medical conditions and prescriptions.”

Every patient’s record is linked across all areas of the healthcare provided at GVMH. That means staff can pull up the whole picture of anyone who’s seen in the emergency department or admitted to the hospital and also has a primary care provider at a GVMH clinic.

“We’re excited about staff focusing more time on patient care and less on collecting information,” Thompson said.

In addition, patients can call single phone number to schedule an appointment at GVMH. That number, 660-890-7300, connects you with a person and puts you on the schedule immediately, he said.

“We ask for everyone’s patience as we roll out Meditech Expanse,” Thompson said. “As a patient, you should plan to spend a few extra minutes when receiving care as our providers and staff adjust to the new tools.

“We are prepared and will provide the best experience possible,” he said.
