Participants kick off the 2015 Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Diabetes Walk. This year’s walk takes place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, at Clinton High School.
You can spend a fun Saturday morning and support a worthwhile cause when you participate in the 2016 Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Diabetes Walk.
Set for Saturday, March 19, at the Clinton High School, the theme this year is “Go for the Gold: Beat Diabetes!” as a salute to the upcoming Summer Olympics.
The Clinton Elks Lodge will serve a grab-and-go breakfast in the commons beginning at 8 a.m. that includes breakfast burritos, muffins, fresh fruit and beverages. Donations are welcome.
A variety of booths and activities will be set up, and children can complete passports through the activities. Adults and kids alike who visit the booths will be entered into door prize drawings.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and team packets should be submitted by 9 a.m. to be eligible for team awards. Individuals are welcome to participate in the event at no cost although donations are gladly accepted. Teams can have their photographs taken and make team posters.
The walk itself kicks off at 9 a.m. on the high school campus. (In the event of inclement weather, walkers may follow an indoor route.) The route is short to allow as many people as possible to participate.
The morning wraps up a short time later when the top fundraising teams are announced, spirit awards are given and door prize winners are drawn.
All proceeds from the walk help local diabetes patients who are coping with the disease. Gifts made to the GVMH Foundation, a nonprofit organization, are tax-deductible. For more information, call 660-890-7108.
