Get those Halloween costumes out, tie on your running or walking shoes and get ready to meet our scary fright crew! The annual Halloween Hustle 5K and Monster Dash, presented by Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare, will take place October 31 in Clinton. Halloween is quickly approaching, and that means the annual Halloween Hustle 5K walk/run and kids’ run is right around the corner with registration now open.
Presented by Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare, the 5K and one-mile Monster Dash are set for Saturday morning, October 31, at the Missouri Department of Conservation trail on Second Street in Clinton. Proceeds from the event go to the GVMH Foundation to help local cancer patients with services and supplies not covered by insurance or other means.
Other sponsors include the Clinton Tourism Association, Juzo, Craig Thompson, American Family Insurance, First National Bank and Summers Pharmacy.
The 5K is open to walkers and runners of any age. The Monster Dash is open to children 12 and younger. Registration for all activities opens at 8:30 a.m. with kids’ games and activities from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The 5K begins at 9 a.m., the dash begins at 10 a.m., and the awards presentation follows the race. Children can enjoy train rides courtesy of David and Deb Mills from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Event T-shirts are available to those who register by Friday, October 23. The 5K registration fee is $20 and the Monster Dash registration fee is $10 with discounts available for teams and combos. Registration fees will increase after October 23. Registrations will be taken the day of the race but participants will not receive T-shirts.
Anyone who participates in the 5K or Monster Dash is eligible to participate in a costume contest and win door prizes. Medals will be awarded in several race categories along with prizes to the overall top male and female finishers. A “Zombie Team” challenge trophy will go to the top team.
