Annual Halloween Hustle benefits local patients

Perfect weather greeted runners and walkers at the sixth annual Halloween Hustle and Super Hero Dash.

Presented by Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare, the event was held the morning of October 21.  Dozens of adults, children and dogs – many in costume – turned out to help local cancer patients and others coping with lymphedema.

In six years, the Halloween Hustle has raised more than $15,000, according to Deanna Hendrich with the GVMH Foundation.

“Each year on race day we see many familiar and new faces,” she said. “This is a fun event and makes a real difference in the lives of patients who don’t have the resources for supplies that they need.”

The 5K and fun run took place at the Missouri Department of Conservation trails on Second Street in Clinton. Costume contests, activities for children and door prizes rounded out the morning. In addition to GVMH, supporters included the Clinton Tourism Association, Juzo, Craig Thompson, American Family Insurance/Carla Moberly, Golden Valley Tractor and Summers Pharmacy.

Medals were given in several age categories. The top overall male was James Womack of Clinton, and the top female finisher was Mia Bagley of Clinton. In addition, the “Heroes” team from Sedalia earned the Zombie Team Challenge trophy.
